Alonso es el Rey en España

Fernando Alonso ha dominado de principio a fin el Gran Premio de España y ha cruzado la línea de meta con una ventaja de 18 segundos sobre su más inmediato perseguidor y rival en la lucha por el título, Michael Schumacher.

El compañero del piloto español en Renautl, Giancarlo Fisichella, ha finalizado tercero.

La victoria del asturiano nunca ha parecido peligrar, ya que tras tomar la salida desde la pole ha mantenido su primera posición por delante de Fisichella y rápidamente se ha hecho con una cómoda ventaja al frente de la prueba, que ha ido aumentado hasta el final de la misma.

Michael Schumacher ha hecho todo lo posible por intentar alcanzar al piloto de Renault, pero hoy la mejor posición a la que podía aspirar era la segunda de no ser por un problema que sufriera Alonso, y éste no ha llegado.

Schumacher ha logrado arrebatarle el segundo puesto a Fisichella tras la primera parada en boxes, pero nunca ha podido acercarse a los tiempos que marcaba en cabeza Fernando Alonso al volante de un espectacular R26. Giancarlo Fisichella ha cruzado la línea de meta a 24 segundos del vencedor y se ha hecho con el tercer cajón del podio. Felipe Massa ha tomado la salida en cuarta posición y ha concluido el Gran Premio en ese mismo puesto al volante del segundo Ferrari, aunque eso sí, ha marcado la vuelta rápida de la carrera justo antes de realizar su segundo repostaje.

Por alguna razón el brasileño no ha sido capaz de desplegar todo el potencial de su coche de una manera constante a lo largo de al carrera y ha finalizado a seis segundos de Fisichella. Kimi Raikkonen salía desde la novena posición de parrilla, pero tras protagonizar una fenomenal arrancada se situaba quinto al llegar a la primera curva tras haber superado a los dos Toyota y a los dos Honda. Pero después el piloto finlandés de McLaren no podía seguir el ritmo que marcaban los líderes y finalmente ha visto la bandera a cuadros con un retraso de medio minuto respecto a Massa.

Jenson Button ha concluido la carrera en sexta posición a los mandos de su Honda y tras haber intentado presionar a Raikkonen en el último tercio de la carrera, aunque nunca pareció tener opciones reales de conseguirlo. Su compañero Rubens Barrichello ha finalizado en séptima posición, pero ya con una vuelta perdida respecto al vencedor. El brasileño ha aguantado a su compañero durante el primer stint de la carrera, pero ha perdido su posición tras la primera tanda de paradas en boxes
Tras tomar la salida en décima posición, Nick Heidfeld ha logrado sumar un punto para BMW Sauber aprovechándose de los problemas que ha tenido el equipo Toyota en la carrera de hoy. Mark Webber ha intentado arrebatarle ese octavo puesto a Heidfeld, pero finalmente ha tenido que conformarse con la novena posición por delante del Toyota de Jarno Trulli.

De nuevo otro decepcionante fin de semana para Toyota, ya que Trulli no ha marcado nunca un buen ritmo, mientras que Ralf Schumacher echaba por tierra su carrera al tocarse en las primeras vueltas con el coche de su compañero y romper su alerón delantero en ese incidente. Más tarde, un problema eléctrico obligaba al alemán a abandonar la carrera.

Nico Rosberg lo ha intentado todo para intentar superar a Trulli en las últimas vueltas, pero no ha encontrado la fórmula de hacerlo y ha finalizado 11º por delante de Jacques Villeneuve, que tras tomar la salida desde la última fila de la parrilla ha seguido una estrategia a una sola parada y ha finalizado en 12ª posición.

Por lo que respecta a los Red Bull Ferrari, Christian Klien ha cruzado la línea de meta en 13ª posición, justo por delante de su compañero David Coulthard, que hoy cumplía su Gran Premio número 200, pero que probablemente pronto olvidará este Gran Premio de España 2006.

Tonio Liuzzi se ha clasificado 15º para Toro Rosso, mientras que Tiago Monteiro se ha sobrepuesto a una salida de pista inicial y ha acabado 16º con tres vueltas perdidas respecto al vencedor.

El último clasificado a pesar de un espectacular trompo en la Curva 3 ha sido el japonés de Super Aguri Honda, Takuma Sato. Christijan Albers ha tenido problemas con el comportamiento de su M16 antes de tener que retirarse, mientras que Scott Speed estaba completando una buena carrera hasta que ha experimentado problemas de motor.

Franck Montagny abandonaba por problemas mecánicos, mientras que Juan Pablo Montoya redondeaba un fin de semana nefasto para él al hacer un trompo y abandonar cuando rodaba en 11ª posición.
